Pakistan Standard Time (PKT) is UTC+5 all year. Pakistan does not use daylight saving, so a UK 9:00–17:00 working day falls between 14:00 and 22:00 in Pakistan, a US Eastern day between 19:00 and 03:00, and an Australian Eastern day between 04:00 and 12:00. Offshore teams in Pakistan work those hours as their normal shift.
This guide sets out where your working day falls in Pakistan time, what changes when your clocks go forward or back, and how a team in Pakistan can work fully in your hours.

UK businesses: an afternoon and evening shift
The UK is five hours behind Pakistan in winter (GMT) and four hours behind in summer (British Summer Time). A team in Pakistan covering a UK day starts in the early afternoon and finishes in the evening.
This is one of the most comfortable overlaps of any offshore location: the shift runs at sociable hours in Pakistan, and your team is online for the whole of your working day, including the morning rush.
US and Canadian businesses: an evening and night shift
North America is 9 to 13 hours behind Pakistan, depending on your time zone and the time of year. Covering a US or Canadian Eastern day means a shift that starts in the Pakistan evening and runs past midnight. Pacific coverage starts later still.
Night shifts for North American clients are a well-established pattern in Pakistan’s outsourcing industry. What matters is that the office is staffed, supervised and powered through the night, which is why backup power and on-site supervision are part of a managed team.
Australian businesses: an early-morning shift
Eastern Australia is five hours ahead of Pakistan in winter (AEST) and six hours ahead in summer (AEDT). Covering a Sydney or Melbourne day means a shift that starts in the early hours in Pakistan and finishes around midday. Perth is three hours ahead, so a Perth day runs from 06:00 to 14:00 in Pakistan.
What changes when your clocks change
Because Pakistan stays on UTC+5 all year, only your side of the gap moves. When your clocks go forward or back, your team’s shift in Pakistan time moves by an hour so it still lines up with your 9:00 start.
- UK: clocks change on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October.
- US and most of Canada: clocks change on the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November.
- Australia: New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia change on the first Sunday in October and the first Sunday in April. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not change.
The UK and US change on different dates, so for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap between them is an hour different from usual. If one team covers both, agree in advance which market’s clock it follows.
Full alignment or partial overlap?
There are two ways to work across time zones. With full alignment, your team works your business day, whatever time that is in Pakistan. With partial overlap, the team works a standard Pakistan day and overlaps with you for a few hours.
For customer support, sales calls and anything live, full alignment is the right choice: your team needs to be online when your customers are. For focused back-office or development work, some businesses are happy with partial overlap. Chishty Global teams work your hours as standard, and the exact shift times are agreed with you during set-up.
